Castel Badia
Castel Badia is a castle over a thousand years old, perched above St. Lorenzen in the Dolomites, which reopened in December 2025 following an extensive restoration.
Originally built around the year 1000 and later used as the region’s first Benedictine convent, the property today presents a striking fusion of historic heritage, contemporary design and refined luxury hospitality.
The 29 individually designed rooms and suites, a chalet set amidst greenery, and a spa housed within the medieval vaulted chambers create an exceptional retreat deeply rooted in the history and natural landscape of the Puster Valley.
Culinary experiences at Castel Badia are shaped by Chef Alberto Toè, whose regionally inspired fine-dining cuisine harmoniously blends tradition and modernity.
The project is the result of the collaboration between Aldo Melpignano, the Kronplatz Group, and the Gasser and Knötig families — a synergy of international vision, local identity and heartfelt hospitality.
