Thanda Island
Off the coast of Tanzania lies the luxury private island resort Thanda Island, which opened in April 2016. The private residence of Swedish philanthropist and investor couple Christin and Dan Olofsson is exclusively bookable and offers absolute privacy in a luxurious villa with five suites for private vacations with friends and family. Thanda Island is the sister resort of the renowned Thanda Safari luxury reserve in South Africa, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, and follows its sustainability philosophy with extensive environmental, research and community projects.
Thanda Island is the guest-accessible private beachfront residence of Swedish investors and philanthropists Christin and Dan Olofsson. On eight hectares, a tropical island paradise opens up with its own private coral reef, into which a large, whitewashed villa blends harmoniously. Designed in a restrained, luxurious American-Swedish style, the residence is equipped with an indoor aquarium, Steinway grand piano, glass pool, cocktail bar, boma and its own al fresco pizza oven. It offers maximum privacy in five suites for up to ten adults and nine children. The interior and design were personally created by the Olofssons in white and natural tones and hand-picked artwork. Their inspiration for this came from a visit to the Kennedy family residence in New England.
